The Surprise Birthday Gift
Once I was sleeping in my girlfriends bedroom, and I found this song of the south dvd on her nightstand. I was a little bit confused. She wasn’t around, so I couldn’t ask her what it was there for. Sometimes when I work the swing shift, I get off really late. Her apartment is closer to my work than mine is, so sometimes I just go and crash at her place. I have my own key. She sometimes works the graveyard shift, so we often miss each other. But this DVD that was staring me in the face from the nightstand was really perplexing me. We had been talking about how we were trying to buy a copy, and we hadn’t been able to find one. I thought she would have told me. I suppose she has a good explanation, so I just rolled over and went back to sleep. Next thing I knew, I woke up and she was wheeling this big screen TV into the bedroom. I had forgotten it was my birthday. Now everything made perfect sense.
