My Cat is a Nightmare but I Still Love Him
I am quite sure that very few brides have ever expereinced the horror and trauma that I had to deal with on my wedding day and this was all due to my nightmare of a cat. It was all a chain of events really that began the night before the wedding. My cat was refusing to let me get my beauty sleep so I decided to lock him in my laundry. Unthinking this just happened to be where my wedding dress was hanging ready for the next day. During the night my darling puss decided to jump up on the washing machine and in the process knocked over an old paint tin… straight onto my wedding dress. The paint was red! My Tamron 17-50mm VC Review Exposed
Yesterday I told you about the latest downside of the Tamron on my Tamron 17-50mm VC review. On that post, I mention that it sometimes overexposes the first image soon after I have turned on the camera. Without the Tamron, I had to switch to another lens and in this case it was the Nikon 17-55mm lens. For a few days I had seen the images produce with this lens and I conclude that the Tamron was not the right lens. The Tamron introduces a special type of Di-II series lens which is optimized especially to meet the performance characteristics of cropped sensor digital SlR cameras. While metering and looking through the viewfinder, the lens is always wide open and in this case, it means an f/2.8 aperture. I have not been disappointed at all with the performance on this lens and advise any professional photographer to give this lens a look.

I have a ten gallon aquarium in my room that I spend a lot of time on. I keep it completely clean, so all the fish in there are really healthy and active. Recently I have started drawing the fish in my aquarium too. I am getting better at it all the time, but I still have a way to go.
One of the hardest things about how to draw fish is that they do not stay still. I mean, you could never get them to pose for you, unless they were dead. The only way I could hope to get my fish to stay still is if I took a photograph of them and made my drawing from that. I have tried taking photos of them before, but the light never came out the right way so the fish ended up looking really dark. The fish fish would not stay still even long enough to be photographed, so I just ended up with this fish blur in the photo.

The Naughty Forties
Let me tell you from the start, the term naughty forties are not true. I have been anything but naughty. I have actually been quite a drag these last couple of years. Looking after children is not as easy as you might think. I was not up to a big party despite daughter going on and on with me about having a big party. I think I put a lot of pressure on my husband as I know he wanted to do something special and I did not want a party so what else was he to do. I trusted he would find something nice to do. The morning of my fortieth birthday I was awoken by my daughter and said I must get ready. Justin’s concerts are a favorite of mine. It seems Justin has a talent for every form of art, as I’d often wonder to myself if there was anything Justin couldn’t master! I was surprised yet again to learn that Justin is also a visual artist. I was lucky enough to see an exhibit in 2009 that showcased quite a few of Justin’s drawings and watercolor paintings. Justin’s artwork has a sense of solitude, of calm. There is a sense of ease to Justin’s artwork and I find those feelings fill me when I am looking at the pieces. I believe there are some people that may find the paintings and drawings as simplistic. I would have to disagree with that, as I find there is a core to the pieces that is very deeply rooted. The majority of the artwork that Justin has had on display have been self-portraits and portraits of lovers and friends. I find a very genuine tenderness in the portraits Justin has done of others, a sense of familiarity and caring for the subjects that is sometimes missing when other artists do portraits. I can’t wait for more gallery shows to focus on Justin’s visual artwork and to see what other avenues Justin’s painting will take.
Getting Ready for the New Year
I am already getting ready for the new year by purchasing some 2012 home and garden calendars for my family. We love these things and we exchange them every year. Since we are a family of five sisters, we enjoy exchanging the calendars. We pick a different one for each sister, and then we give it to them on Christmas. I like picking mine out early because it gives me time to deal with all the thinking I have to do for each sister. I try to get unique ones so that we don’t give each other the same ones. It is a really fun tradition, and any family with sisters can appreciate this tradition! Sisters are really the best, and I am very glad to have mine around. I know they will certainly stick with me for a long time to come, and I am really excited about that.

My How We Have Grown
Have you all seen that commercial for a digital camera that was actually filmed by that camera itself? I have and the commercial is amazingly clear. I never thought a digital camera would be made that could be as good as the cameras that the movies are made from and be on the market for consumers. I would love to have one. I could catch all those memories that I missed for so long if I had one. I would use the heck out of it and enjoy every minute of it. I think its cool how technology is available like that now a days. I still have tons of pictures on old Polaroid film. They are starting to yellow now that they are more than twenty years old. I wonder if there is a way to clean them up or even if you could take a picture of the original picture and keep it digitally. I think that would be awesome!
